When should I start pregnancy care?
Dr. Ahmed is an experienced OB/GYN and can help you determine when you should start pregnancy care. If you have future pregnancy plans, Dr. Ahmed may suggest a pre-pregnancy visit to assess your health and ensure your pregnancy gets off to a good start.
If you’re already pregnant, your first prenatal visit with Dr. Ahmed may be scheduled as soon as possible if you suspect you are pregnant If your pregnancy is high risk, Dr. Ahmed may suggest you start prenatal care earlier.
What can I expect during pregnancy care?
The specifics of your pregnancy care are unique to you and your pregnancy needs. However, you can expect a comprehensive and thorough evaluation at your first prenatal appointment.
During your first visit, Dr. Ahmed asks many questions about your personal health and gynecological history, as well as your partner’s health history. He also conducts a physical and pelvic exam and may run a number of tests, such as:

- History of a chronic medical condition
- Preterm labor and/or delivery
- Cervical competence
- IUGR
- Reoccuring pregnancy loss
- Thyroid Abnormality
- Hyper-tensions
- Development of gestational diabetes or preeclampsia

How often should I see the doctor during pregnancy?
The frequency of your pregnancy care visits depends on whether your pregnancy is normal or high risk, as well as your weeks of gestation. For a normal pregnancy, you can expect:
- Monthly visits up to week 28
- Bimonthly visits from week 29-35
- Weekly visits from week 36 until you give birth
For a high-risk pregnancy, Dr. Ahmed may require more frequent office visits or refer you to specialists based on your specific pregnancy needs.
